Watauga Counseling Association

November Report

WCA held it's annual College Fair in September 2008 and, as usual, had a wonderful turnout.  The first meeting was held on Sept. 18, 2008.  Emily Long spoke on grief and loss and discussed new ways of looking at grief and new ideas for helping others who are grieving.  The November meeting speaker is Faith Mahoney who will be discussing how societal stress and changes effect counselor efficacy and burnout.

WCA is in the process of partnering with Frontier Health and the ETSU Counseling Program to finalize details to have Gerald Corey present an all day workshop.  This workshop will be held on Monday, March 16th, 2009.  There will be two sessions; the morning will address Legal and Ethical issues for counselors and the afternoon will address working with groups.  WCA will soon send out additional, more specific information regarding this workshop to all TCA members including information on how to register and cost of attendance.  WCA is very excited to have the opportunity to help present this workshop!

WCA is continuing to work on building membership and providing quality continuing education and information to our members.  Additional information regarding WCA activities can be found at http://wataugacounseling.wordpress.com.

 Respectfully submitted,

Emily Long

WCA President 2008-2009
